Benjamin James (“J”) Shermeta is Associate University Architect at Cornell University in Ithaca NY. Prior to joining the University Architect’s office in Facilities and Campus Services, J consulted on a wide range of civic, educational, residential projects with a focus on academic learning spaces. J has taught architectural studio at Jefferson University, served as a guest critic at Drexel and Penn, and holds a Masters in Architecture from University of California, Berkeley and a BA from Vanderbilt University. As a member of the Cornell Design and Construction Standards Committee, J co chaired the Acoustics Standard Committee — a Standard intended to build collaboration among project teams to deliver high performance acoustical design for the broad variety of educational and work spaces on a University campus.
