Mark J. Terra has been an investigator with the New York State Office of the Attorney General since May 2016. Since he joined the OAG, he has investigated various types of frauds ranging from practicing a profession under false pretenses to money laundering.
Prior to his current position Terra was a Special Agent with the Federal Bureau of Investigation for twenty-four years, retiring in 2015. As a Special Agent, he has investigated a variety of Federal violations ranging from Outlaw Motorcycle Gangs, Foreign Counterintelligence, and White Collar Crime.
Using his experiences gained as an investigator, Terra has taught at the FBI Academy in Quantico, Virginia and he has been a supervisor overseeing investigators, forensic accountants, and intelligence analysts.
Prior to joining the FBI, Terra was a police officer with the Juneau, Alaska and Syracuse, New York police departments. Terra holds a Bachelor of Science and Masters of Justice Administration degrees.
