Following 9/11 the built environment changed significantly. These changes impacted the design and construction industry. Homeland Security created the SAFETY Act as a way to protect building owners from litigation should an attack take place in their facility.
For the first time, the SAFETY Act designation can protect not only the building owner, but also the AEC team involved in designing and building the project.
Learning Objectives: By the end of this session, participants will be able to:
- Understand the origins of the SAFETY Act,
- Explain various Qualified Anti-Terrorism Technologies a client may value and where to find additional information,
- Understand the value of HLS protocol and how it protects your client and your firm,
- Explain the SAFETY Act to a potential client who is concerned about terrorism protection on their next project.
